They include five golds, nine silvers and 17 bronze finishes.
Asian Games 2023: Medal Tally, Schedule, Results, Date, Venues & More
Veteran tennis player Rohan Bopanna will be leading the men’s team at Hangzhou while Ankita Raina will be fronting the charge for the women. Bopanna was once renowned as a fierce competitor in men’s doubles alongside his former partner Leander Paes. The 43-year-old recently took a spot in the top 10 of the ATP rankings for doubles. The improved ranking is a result of winning a couple of ATP titles this year.
Ankita Raina, on the other hand, is the highest-ranked Indian player in women’s doubles at number 149. Having won bronze already in the previous edition of the Asian Games, Ankita will be looking to go a step further in the ongoing sporting fest.
Indian participants will likely face the toughest competition from countries like Japan, China, South Korea and Indonesia across various events in tennis. It will be interesting to see how many more medals can India add at the 19th Asian Games.
