The Rupali Ganguly-led serial Anupamaa is one of the most-watched television shows in India. Reports have now surfaced indicating a leap of 10-15 years and that the characters in the show will undergo considerable changes. It is being said that apart from Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna, most of the cast will not be part of the show and a new character named Kajal will enter the TV series. In support of the new cast list, names such as Tanvi Hegde, known for her performance in Son Pari, Udaariyaan actress Alisha Parveen and Shivangi Joshi, emerged on the gossip columns.
Now, Shivangi Joshi has reacted to the rumours and shared a note on Instagram clarifying if she is entering Anupamaa after the show takes a leap. Shivangi, who is known for her remarkable performance in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, refuted the rumours with a picture message on her Instagram stories. She addressed the buzz and informed her fans that she would not be a part of the show.
Shivangi Joshi penned, “Hi Everyone, There’s been news of me being a part of Anupamaa. I thought I should clarify that I am not doing the show and put all rumours to an end. I also wish the team all the love and luck always.”
Earlier, speaking of the upcoming character Kajal, who would reportedly take over a pivotal role alongside Anupamaa, an insider told Pinkvilla, “Kajal will be free-spirited and spunky but will have a lot of emotions hidden. The makers are penning a tragic backstory for Kajal who has lost her father because of her mother’s mistake and thus is quite cold towards her. She holds her mother responsible for her father’s death and thus is living away from her. She wishes to fulfil her father’s lost dream. She is a person who finds a way to help the poor and can even con the rich people to help the poor.”
Shivangi is known for her straightforward nature. She never shies away from revealing shocking details about her career trajectory. Previously, she made a claim about being replaced by a star kid in a series. In another interview to the portal, she said, “I was considered for another platform, and my auditions happened. They really liked my performance, and everything was set. Suddenly, at the last minute, I got to know that someone else is doing the project. I asked, ‘When did this happen?’ I was told that she is someone’s daughter, and now she is being considered for the role. I don’t want to take names. I was told that you can do the friend part if you want.”
Anupamaa began airing on StarPlus in 2020 and has gained widespread popularity for its lead character’s role. The show centres around Anupamaa’s sacrifices for her ambitions and goals to raise her family. She feels dejected when she fails to get any credit for those. The serial also streams digitally on Disney+ Hotstar.
