Motorola’s smart TV brand licensee Flipkart has the Motorola 4K Android TV Stick in India. The streaming dongle will essentially transform a regular TV into a smart device via the HDMI port. The device will compete against the highly popular Xiaomi Mi Stick and Amazon Fire Tv Stick. The Motorola 4K Android TV Stick comes with a 2GHz quad-core Cortex A53 64-bit processor and Mali G31 MP2-850 graphic engine. The device runs on the Android 9.0 operating system.
The Motorola 4K Android TV Stick’s price in India is set at Rs 3,999. It will go on sale via Flipkart in the third week of March, though the specific date is yet to be revealed. Speaking more about the launch, Chanakya Gupta, Vice President Private Brands at Flipkart said there is a steady demand for in-home video entertainment products amid the COVID-19 pandemic began. “Motorola is a globally reputed and trusted brand, and the Motorola TV stick is a great option for consumers wanting to enjoy their favourite video content at home,” Gupta in a statement added.
In contrast, the Motorola 4K Android TV Stick’s direct competitors such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice remote costs Rs 5,999 and the Mi Box 4K costs Rs 3,499.
Coming to specifications, the Motorola 4K Android TV Stick has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. The dongle supports multiple resolutions, ranging from 2160p to 720p at 60 frames per second. The HDR 10 and HLG video formats are also supported. The remote control comes with a dedicated Google Assitant voice button alongside hotkeys such as Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Zee5, and Netflix. Since the device runs on Google’s Android TV OS, users can download a variety of apps for the TV via the Google Play Store. The stick is compatible with all Android TVs and has a built-in Chromecast that allows users to project their mobile screens onto the screen. In terms of design, the dongle features a square-design and comes with a black finish.
