With 2020 coming to a close in less than two month’s time, Google is preparing for the best apps of 2020 roundup on the Google Play Store. The voting for user’s choice apps on the play store starts today in four categories – Apps, Games, Books, and Movies. “Google Play’s 2020 Best of awards are back – capping off a year unlike any other. Once again, we want to hear about your favorite content on Google Play,” Google said while announcing the Best of 2020 roundup.
The four categories of Apps, Games, Books, and Movies are the same as last year. Users should look for a banner on the Google Play Store’s homepage in order to vote for their favourite app of game and make sure they are signed in. The voting starts today and ends on November 23. Each shortlist will have 10 items that have trended in the past year. These 10 apps or games or movies or books are localised by country. This year’s ‘Best of’ list is unlike any other due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which gave birth to many new categories and brought many more categories of apps and books to the forefront.
Google Play Store was last month reported to be testing a new feature that will allow users to compare apps with similar offerings in the same category, in order to allow them to make a more informed decision. The ‘Compare Apps’ section will show at the bottom of each app’s listing page on the Google Play Store, according to reports.
