New Delhi:John McAfee, the man behind the popular anti-virus software, is all geared up to run for the 2016 US presidential elections.

The confirmed filing notes that McAfee would be “founding a new party yet to be announced”.

McAfee told Wired how he was flooded with emails from people who encouraged him to run but even before the filing he was “still in a quandary about whether to run myself or find someone else for my party.”

On the government’s take on technology, McAfee said, “It’s clear that the leadership of our country is illiterate on the fundamental technology that supports everything in life for us now, that is cyber science, our smartphones, our military hardware, our communications."

McAfee’s run for the presidential elections might invite attacks from fellow contenders as he was once arrested over a murder case in which he was wanted for questioning by local police in Belize.

Although no charges were brought against him in the case, but this might influence his presidential run.
