This South Actor Turned Down Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Film Twice
The actor recently spoke about rejecting Chiranjeevi’s films because of prior commitments.

Megastar Chiranjeevi is one of the most successful and sought-after actors in the South film industry. His latest movie Waltair Veerayya emerged to be the third highest-grossing Telugu film of 2023. Chiranjeevi starred in another movie titled Bhola Shankar, a remake of the Tamil movie Vedalam. Bhola Shankar tanked at the box office. Currently, he is gearing up for his upcoming movie, Vishwambhara, directed by Mallidi Vassishta. Such is Chiranjeevi’s popularity till date, that every actor and director wants to work with him. Did you know that there is one actor who rejected Chiranjeevi’s film not once, but twice?

The actor is none other than Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran. Currently, he is busy promoting his upcoming and most-awaited movie, Aadujeevitham aka The Goat Life. The movie is slated to release this month. While on a promotion spree, in an interview he recalled a hilarious incident of him rejecting two of Chiranjeevi’s movies because he was tied up with Aadujeevitham.

In the interview, Prithviraj Sukumaran revealed that in 2017, Chiranjeevi had approached him with a role in the epic movie titled Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Prithviraj Sukumaran had to reject the offer as he was then busy shooting for Aadujeevitham. He was committed to the movie and had also grown a beard for his role in it.

In 2019, Chiranjeevi was promoting Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in Kerala, at the same time as Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Lucifer released. It was Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut. Chiranjeevi bought the rights to remake Lucifer in Telugu and this time his team approached him. Once again, he had to decline, because he was busy with Aadujeevitham.

During that time, Prithviraj Sukumaran was caught up with the production work of Aadujeevitham. He clarified that the production work of Aadujeevitham was extended for over a decade.

Speaking of Aadujeevitham, it is directed by Blessy. The shoot for the movie kickstarted in 2018; after several delays, it is finally going to grace the silver screens on March 28. The movie is an adaptation of the 2008 Malayalam novel of the same name, written by Benyamin. The novel was based on a true incident. Aadujeevitham will star Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. He will play Najeeb, an immigrant labourer in Saudi Arabia where he gets forced into slavery.
