The Tamil film industry has been on the rise in the last few years. With the advent of the OTT sphere, new filmmakers and artists are getting a lot of recognition for their content. One such popular series that flourished in the OTT world was Suzhal: The Vortex. The criminal investigation thriller was created by Pushkar-Gayathri and starred Kathir, Aishwarya Rajesh, R Parthiban, and Nivedithaa Satish in the lead roles. After successfully winning the hearts of the audience with its first season in 2022, the makers of the show recently announced its second season at Prime Video’s 2024 India web series releases.

The Tamil series Suzhal: The Vortex has been renewed for a second season, becoming one of the few Tamil web series to attain this feat. The renewal of the show has brought excitement to fans not just in Tamil Nadu but across the country, as the series became an instant hit when it was released on Prime Video. Prime Video has confirmed the second season with a post on X (formerly Twitter) and stated that it will feature the same cast along with some new names like Manjima Mohan, Monisha Blessy, and Samyuktha Vishwanathan.

The OTT platform wrote, “Small Town, Big Crime. When a senior activist lawyer, Chellappa, who defended Nandini, is found murdered, Sakkarai is called in to help the family. Set against the backdrop of the massive Ashtakaali Festival in the small town of Kaalipattanam, the case unravels deeds from the past that cast long shadows on the present.”

In the new season. the focus will be on the Ashtakaali festival in Kaalipattanam, bringing in a lot of new dark secrets and crime mysteries from the area. The new season will introduce Kathir as the determined cop who will be unravelling the mystery behind the death of a renowned lawyer.

Suzhal season 2 will be produced under the banner of Wallwatcher Films and directed by Bramma and Sarjun. The makers have not yet revealed the release date of the project. The fans of the show are eagerly awaiting its release.
