Vidisha: EC removes SDM after Congress accuses BJP of booth-capturing
Lakshman Singh, the brother of senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, had accused the BJP of booth-capturing attempts.

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday removed the Vidisha Sub-District Magistrate on a complaint filed by Congress candidate Lakshman Singh. Lakshman, the brother of senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, had accused the BJP of booth-capturing attempts.

Lakshman Singh is contesting from the Vidisha seat against BJP's Sushma Swaraj.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, he said, "Initially, there were attempts at booth capturing by BJP workers. But we are making all attempts to stop them. I would complement the Congress workers for standing their ground firmly."

He also attacked his opponent Sushma saying she had never visited the constituency. "The biggest issue is that Sushma Swaraj has never spent even 24 hours here. There is no development in Vidisha despite the fact that (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee has been an MP from here, then Shivraj (Chouhan) and now Sushma," he said, adding, "People here will take me seriously because I have toured 500 villages. I have slept in villages, spent more time than anyone else. So that's why people will vote for me."
