New Delhi: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Wednesday night suspended its MP and second-in-command from Medak, A Narendra from the party for his alleged involvement in human trafficking racket.
Narendra incurred the wrath of the party leadership following reports that he had allegedly tampered with the passports of two of his party MPs while his personal assistant had a role in human trafficking.
Initially, it was being reported that one Satyanarayana Murthy was PA to the TRS president K.Chandrasekhara Rao when he was a union minister.
However, later it was found that Murthy was PA to A Narendra who was also a union minister in the UPA government.
Further, there were reports in the local media on Wednesday alleging that Narendra's was directly involved in the racket.
Following these reasons, the TRS suspended him from the party. Earlier in the day, Narendra denied the allegations against and also defended his former PA Murthy.
"Yes Murthy was my PA when I was a minister. Later he sought shelter till he gets a new job and I allowed him to stay in my house. I don't think he's involved in any crime. Let the authorities investigate this,” he said.
Sources said the decision to suspend the senior leader was taken “in the interests of the future of the Telangana statehood” and a show-cause notice would now be sent to Narendra asking him
to explain why he should not be expelled from the party, they added.
Narendra has been nursing a strained relationship with the party's founder-President and MP K Chandrasekhar Rao for a long time now, sparking speculation from time to time over his exit from the party.
The suspension came in the midst of hectic preparations for the party's rally to be held at Warangal on April 27.
Narendra, a former BJP MP, has been associated with TRS since its inception.
Narendra had quit the saffron party and floated his own outfit "Telnagana Sadhana Samithi" which he subsequently merged with TRS.
