Kolkata: Opposition Trinamool Congress members on Monday abstained from the West Bengal Assembly during presentation of the vote-on-account on Monday and announced to boycott the entire budget session questioning the Left Front Government's right to place it before the assembly elections.

The way the vote-on-account was presented, it violated the model code of conduct, Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee told reporters."We are also opposing the way the ruling party is trying to place some bills during this budget session," Chatterjee said.

Citing another reason of their boycott of this session, Chatterjee said "CPI(M) is also trying to move a privilege motion against three of our members during the session to malign their image before the polls in the state".

Another opposition party Congress on Monday staged a walk-out during presentation of the vote-on-account alleging it was violative of the election model code of conduct.West Bengal will go for a six-phase poll during the months of April and May.
