Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday made an appeal to the Kadva Patidar community to end female foeticide.
"The act of female foeticide should not be there, instead birth of a girl child should become a matter of pride for the family," Modi said while inaugurating the community building of Kadva Patidar.
He inaugurated the cultural hall and the community centre in Kudasan on Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad road, which has been built with donations of Kadva Patidar families.
Speaking on the occasion, Modi appealed to the members of Kadva Patidar community to participate in the state's development with the mantra of 'Sauno Sath, Sauno Vikas' (collective efforts, inclusive growth).
Modi also outlined his government's new initiatives taken for water conservation and promotion of solar energy, to the community primarily engaged in agricultural activity.
