SM Krishna accuses Modi of 'sidelining' senior BJP leaders
'There is no such thing as a Modi wave in the country. Such an illusion is being created by vested interests,' the senior Congress leader added.

Bangalore: Senior Congress leader SM Krishna on Wednesday launched his election campaign for the party's candidates with a scathing attack on Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"There is no such thing as a Modi wave in the country. Such an illusion is being created by vested interests," he said.

The former Karnataka chief minister was speaking at a press conference where he declared his support for the four Congress candidates from Bangalore - Nandan Nilekani, Rizwan Arshad, C Narayanaswamy and DK Suresh.

Krishna also expressed his displeasure over the infighting within the BJP.

In a surprising defence to veteran BJP leaders, Krishna said, "Respected leaders like (LK) Advani, Sushma Swaraj and other Murli Manohar Joshi, Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha have been relegated. How are they being treated?"

Krishna blamed the dominance of Modi for the sidelining for senior BJP leaders. "Modi suddenly occupies the centre seat and takes away all the chairs. There is a veneer of dictatorship in the BJP," he said.

He also attacked the BJP for giving a poll ticket to BS Yeddyurappa.

However, Krishna did not apply the same standard to his own party and remained defensive of the Congress giving tickets to tainted leaders like Ashok Chavan and Pawan Bansal.

"Has Chavan been convicted in the court of law? As long as they are not convicted they are entitled to be treated like anyone else," he said.

What's your reaction?
