New Delhi: Telangana Congress leader GN Reddy has accused caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of misusing the police. The statement comes after Congress working president Revanth Reddy was taken into preventive custody for reportedly threatening to disrupt Rao's election rally on Tuesday.
GN Reddy said that Revanth is a “Brahmos missile who will finish the TRS”, ANI reported.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief is scheduled to conduct a rally in Kodangal and Revanth is contesting elections from the constituency.
"KCR is misusing the police, in the manner which police entered his bedroom, it has never happened in India. Revanth Reddy (Congress candidate detained by police) is not an ordinary man, he is a Brahmos missile and this missile is going to finish TRS," GN Reddy was quoted as saying by ANI.
Congress leader DK Shivakumar also denounced the detention of Revanth and appealed to the Election Commission (EC) to intervene, terming the police action as against the spirit of free elections.
"It's highly condemnable that Telangana Police arrested Congress Working President and Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy at 3 am today because chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is holding a rally there. We appeal to the EC that such intimidation goes against the spirit of free and fair elections," Shivakumar tweeted.

The Congress termed Revanth's arrest a "stain on democracy" and said that it was a clear sign that the ruling TRS fears an imminent loss in the state assembly elections.
Telangana will go to polls on December 7, while counting of votes will take place on December 11.
