Thiruvananthapuram: In a setback to Congress-led UDF, the Communist Marxist Party (CMP), one of the minor partners of the Front, on Wednesday decided not to accept the three seats allotted to them for the April 13 assembly elections, holding that it was unilaterally decided by the Congress.
Addressing reporters, CMP general secretary M V Raghavan said the seats given to them Dharmadam, Kunnamkulam and Nattika were not acceptable they were traditionally strongholds of the LDF.
The party was not given any seat which it had asked for, he said. CMP had asked for Azhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Punalur which were taken by Congress and the IUML.
Meanwhile, another constituent, Socialist Janata Democratic (SJD) has also deferred the announcement of its candidates following differences with the Congress.
The party, dissatisfied with not being allotted Chittur seat in Palakkad, is unwilling to contest from Nenmara and Mattanur which had been given to them.
The candidates in the other five seats Nemom, Koothuparamba, Elathur, Kalpetta and Vadakara which the party had been given, would be announced after talks with Congress leadership, party sources said.
