Madurai (TN): One more aide of Union Minister M K Alagiri was detained under Goondas Act on Friday for allegedly issuing a murder threat to a party colleague and assaulting another.
V K Gurusamy, East Zone President of Madurai City Corporation, was already in jail in connection with an alleged land grab case, police said.
Gurusamy has been detained under Goondas Act for allegedly issuing a murder threat to party colleague called Stalin (no relation to M K Stalin) and allegedly assaulting another DMK functionary, Manimurugan, during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, police said.
Two of Alagiri's close aides have already been detained under Goondas Act. 'Pottu' Suresh alis Suresh Babu, the personal assistant (political) of Alagiri, and 'Attack' Pandi, are both lodged in Palayamkottai Prison in neighbouring
Tirunelveli district.
Gurusamy was detained under Goondas Act on the orders of Madurai Police Commissioner, police said.
Meanwhile, Tiruvarur District DMK Secretary Poondi Kalaivanan has also been detained under Goondas Act.
Kalaivanan, who was already in prison, was detained under Goondas Act in connection with three cases, police said.
