No point voting for people who know only Kannada, says Karnataka CM
The opposition JDS and the BJP have strongly reacted to his comment calling him an anti-Kannada chief minister.

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has courted a fresh controversy by urging the voters to send only people who know more languages to the Lok Sabha. During his election campaign in Mandya, Siddaramaiah asked the voters to re-elect sitting MP and famous Kannada heroine Ramya. He said that the JDS candidate contesting against her was not fluent in any other language except Kannada.

He said, "The JDS candidate Puttaraju does not know any other language except Kannada. No point in voting for him. But, Ramya knows 6 languages. Please vote for her."

The opposition JDS and the BJP have strongly reacted to his comment calling him an anti-Kannada chief minister. Even some pro-Kannada organizations have attacked him for making such insensitive statement on the people those who don't know any other language.

Siddaramaiah is now trying to clarify saying that the knowledge of English and Hindi would be essential to be an MP and he did not insult Kannada or Kannada speakers.

Three days ago, Siddaramaiah had described Narendra Modi as a mass murderer. It had led to a huge furore.

What's your reaction?
