Lucknow: Denying reports of differences within the party, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Sunday said the party was united and ready for the 2012 Assembly polls.
"Reports that there are differences among party leaders of the state unit are baseless. The party is united and ready for the 2012 Assembly polls," she told a meeting of the party executive.
Joshi said that till tickets are not decided everyone has right to apply and there was nothing wrong in it.
Amid reports of differences among MPs, as some of them were reportedly upset with the party's decision of ignoring them while deciding the first list of 73 candidates, Congress decided to take the opinion of the party MPs from the state into account while deciding the second list of candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
Asking party workers to reach out to the masses, Joshi said since October will be a month of festivals, they should meet people and try to feel their pulse.
She also emphasised the need to strengthen party at the booth level.
