NGO moves SC against Chiranjeevi's public meet
The NGO said the meeting should be banned as the venue is a water tank.

New Delhi: An NGO from Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday moved Supreme Court seeking a ban on the maiden public meeting to be addressed by matinee-idol-turned-politician Chiranjeevi at Tirupati on August 26.

The Tirupati-based NGO, Intellectual Forum, contended that the public meeting should be prohibited as the venue Avilala is a water tank that enjoys protection under the Environment Act.

Meanwhile, the actor, through his Counsel A Ramesh, has filed a caveat in the apex court so that no order is passed without hearing him.

The matter is likely to be taken up for hearing on Thursday.
