Bhubaneswar: Congress on June 15 ridiculed Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's statement that BJD would not ally with Congress and said it was completely out of place and uncalled for.
"Congress has never sought an alliance with BJD in the past nor it will it desire to do so in future. Therefore, Patnaik's statement is nothing but due to fractions in his own party which has disturbed his mental balance. He requires a political doctor for treatment," the OPCC media cell chief Narasingha Mishra informed.
Accusing Patnaik of indulging in dishonest political activities, Mishra said that the BJD supremo was 'hand in glove' with the BJP and had met saffron stalwart LK Advani before leaving for Britain on a visit last month.
Claiming that Naveen would meet his waterloo in 2014 elections, the senior Congress leader claimed that BJD was gradually crumbling.
"Naveen is scared of his position and therefore merged four NCP MLAs in BJD by betraying the NCP," he claimed.
BJD vice-president and Health Minister Prasanna Acharya hit out at Mishra saying "People giving such statements are themselves mentally imbalanced as they have been rejected several times by voters."
There was no disturbance in the BJD and the party was united under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, Acharya told.
