BJP MP Narendra Singh Tomar demanded stern action against those involved in the illegal trade.

Gwalior: Terming as "unfortunate" the alleged murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh, allegedly by mining mafia in Morena district, BJP MP Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday demanded stern action against those involved in the illegal trade.

The 30-year-old Singh, who was posted at Banmore as Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor-trolley on Thursday allegedly by the mining mafia when he tried stopping the vehicle carrying stones.

"Illegal mining in Morena district has crossed all limits and the ruling BJP government must take stern measures to immediately curb it," Tomar told reporters.

"The incident of young IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh's alleged murder near Banmore town is a matter of serious concern and really unfortunate," the BJP general secretary said.

Denying reports that ruling party members were involved in the illegal excavation, Tomar said the government should put an end to the menace.
