New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called signing of the Indo-US nuclear deal as the best moment of his 10 year long tenure. "My best moment as PM was when we struck a nuclear deal with the US," he said.
The PM, however, ducked questions on the lowest moments during his tenure as Prime Minister. "Well, I will need time to reflect on this," he said when asked the question.
Under the deal, India will have access to US civil nuclear fuel and technology despite the fact that it is not signitory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, has conducted nuclear tests in 1974 and 1998, and has not ruled out doing more.
Under the amendment, India must separate its civil and military nuclear facilities, and submit civil facilities to inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The agreement means other countries can sell India nuclear technology and fuel.
