Manipur polls: MPP, JD(U), NCP form alliance
JD(U) president Arun Kumar Srivastava said the alliance was meant to defeat the Congress and bring a new government.

Imphal: Three political parties have formed a pre-poll alliance for the forthcoming January 28 Assembly elections in Manipur. Opposition leader and senior Manipur People's Party (MPP) leader O Joy said on Tuesday that they had decided to form a pre-poll alliance with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Janata Dal (United).

JD(U) national president Arun Kumar Srivastava said the alliance was meant to defeat the Congress and bring a new government to help the people.

NCP Manipur unit president Radhabinod Koijam, a former chief minister, said, "The people of Manipur are not satisfied with the present government as they couldn't even solve the blocking of two national highways for more than 120 days."

MPP president Nimaichand Luwang said people of Manipur should not be swayed by money power.
