New Delhi: The controversy over Team Anna member Kiran Bedi over allegations of inflated travel bills continued on Tuesday.
A day after she ordered her travel agent, Anil Bal to return the excess recorded, he quit her NGO in protest.
However, her fellow member Arvind Kejriwal said that the government was targetting all Team Anna members unfairly.
The travel agent resigned from India Vision Foundation protesting allegations that he inflated the bills.
The agent said that it was bizarre to accuse him of inflating bills. Bal said he was paid for the actual cost of the ticket.
He further said that all the payments were made by cheque and accounts were open to scrutiny, adding that there were no queries by the Income tax department.
The question then is where did the extra money go – to the NGO or to Bedi's personal account? Bedi had tweeted that she had asked her agent to return the money, even as she justified the inflated bills.
Bedi probably passed the buck to her travel agent.
Meanwhile, another Team Anna member reacted saying, "Hang us if it helps, but pass the bill."
Passage the bill is what Anna Hazare too had demanded in his blog on Monday. The UPA was run by a gang of four and they were defaming his team.
While inflated bills might not be as huge as the 2G scam, Bedi invites the charge, those living in glass houses, in all this mud slinging, the campaign for a taint free India is all but lost.
