'I Won't Resign': Swati Maliwal Breaks Silence On Not Giving UP MP Seat Amid Assault Row
Maliwal, who alleged that she was attacked and assaulted by Arvind Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar at CM's house, said she would have resigned as a Rajya Sabha MP if the party had cordially asked her

Amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged assault of AAP MP Swati Maliwal at the Chief Minister’s residence, the former Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) chief clarified that she won’t give up her Rajya Sabha seat now.

In an interview with ANI, Maliwal, who alleged that she was attacked and assaulted by Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar at CM’s house, said she would have resigned as a Rajya Sabha MP if the party had cordially asked her.

She added that she would not resign if any power puts pressure on her to do so.

“If they needed my Rajya Sabha seat, they would have asked for it, I would have given my life, the MP seat is such a small thing. If you see my whole career I never showed any desire for any position,” Maliwal told ANI

“I gave up my engineering job to join these people in 2006 when no one used to know us. Only three people were there and I was one of them. I have been working since then. I have worked on the ground and have run all kinds of operations all these years. I would have resigned readily. I can work without any position. But the way they have beaten me, ‘ab chaahe duniya ki koi bhi shakti lag jaye main resign nahi karungi (I will not resign now at any cost),” the AAP leader asserted.

Meanwhile, on the assault case, a Delhi court allowed a five-day custodial interrogation of Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar, who was earlier arrested from the CM’s residence, and added the police remand was a “necessity” in the matter.

It is alleged that Kumar, who is Kejriwal’s assistant, assaulted AAP MP Swati Maliwal at the CM’s residence on May 13.

On Tuesday, Kumar had been taken to Mumbai for the discovery of data from his phone which he had allegedly formatted before his arrest.

Police suspect Kumar formatted his phone after transferring its data to some person or device in Mumbai.

Arvind Kejriwal’s First Reaction to Maliwal Row

Arvind Kejriwal in an interview with PTI said justice be served with a fair investigation into the alleged Maliwal assault case as there are two versions of it.

He also asserted that he has no “intention” of becoming the next prime minister of the country if the INDIA bloc wins the Lok Sabha polls, saying that he aimed to save the country and democracy from the prevailing “dictatorship”.

Reacting to his comment, Maliwal said irony died a thousand deaths, adding that Kejriwal has finally said that he wants a free and fair investigation into the matter.
