Anand Sharma has said the government had taken sincere steps for Ottavio Quattrocchi’s extradition.

New Delhi: Dismissing the opposition charge of the UPA government going "soft" on Bofors accused Ottavio Quattrocchi, Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Friday said the government had taken sincere steps for

his extradition.

Seeking to turn heat on the Opposition NDA, he said, "The NDA government had also sent various teams to different countries in connection with the Bofors case but could not achieve anything.”

"Their questioning the UPA government's sincerity in pursuing the bofors case is baseless," he said.

"We have to follow their (Argentina) laws," he said on the Italian businessman, who was detained and released on bail in Argentina but has been retrained from leaving the country pending extradition proceedings.
