'Embarrassed' after his son fumbled, Lalu says Modi too misread his oath

After his son and Bihar minister Tej Pratap became the butt of a joke for fumbling during the oath-taking ceremony, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to take oath again.

While tweeting the video of oath-taking ceremony on May 26, 2014, Lalu claimed that Modi did not pronounce the word 'akshunn' and his oath has no meaning.

""अक्षुण्ण" ही नहीं बोला तो शपथ बेकार है.PM को दोबारा शपथ लेनी चाहिए."अक्षण्ण" का हिंदी में कोई शाब्दिक अर्थ नहीं है. देश को तोड़ने का इनका एजेंडा है ही क्योंकि PM ने देश की प्रभुता और अखण्डता को "अक्षुण्ण" रखने की शपथ तो ली ही नहीं थी. (The oath is a waste as the Prime Minister did not pronounce the word 'akshunn' and instead said 'ashann'. There is no meaning of the word 'akshann' in Hindi. He should take oath again. The Prime Minister's agenda is to divide the state as he did not take the oath to keep the country united).

On November 20, Tej Pratap Yadav fumbled while taking oath. Tej Pratap could not pronounce the word apekshit (expectations) correctly and instead he said upekshit (neglected) following which Governor Ramnath Kovind asked the Mahua MLA to repeat his oath.

But he once again fumbled during the swearing-in. This time he said jab (when) instead of tab (then) and Kovind corrected him again. The 28-year-old Tej Pratap won his maiden election from Mahua defeating Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular) candidate Ravindra Rai by 28,155 votes.
