Congress 4th list out, Chidambaram not to fight 2014 polls
Finance Minister P Chidambaram's son Karti will fight 2014 polls from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu.

New Delhi: Even as the Congress didn't reach any decision on putting up a candidate from Varanasi to take on BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the big decision which came on Thursday is that Finance Minister P Chidambaram won't be contesting 2014 elections, instead his son Karti will fight from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu. Chidambaram was elected as an MP from Sivganga in 1984, 2004 and 2009 elections.

Amid reports that the Congress is likely to field Digvijaya Singh against Narendra Modi, party leader Madhusudan Mistry said that the discussion on the seat is yet to be taken while releasing 50 names in its fourth list of Lok Sabha candidates.

Mistry also added that Amritsar and Ludhiana seats are still under consideration and the decision on former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan's candidature is still pending. Chavan was indicted in the Adarsh Commission report. While releasing 50 names, Mistry said that all pending decisions will be discussed in the next meeting.

The party released names for Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. In Gandhinagar, it has fielded Kirit Patel against BJP leader LK Advani, while Digvijaya's brother Laksham Singh will take on Sushma Swaraj in Vidisha.
