New Delhi: The Centre has filed a 316-page affidavit along with annexures in the Supreme Court to justify imposition of President's rule in Arunachal Pradesh.

The court had called the whole episode a serious matter and asked the government to explain it's stand.

The Congress meanwhile has accused the Centre of derailing democracy accusing the Governor of destabilising the government.

Expressing shock over the imposition of President's rule, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had said, "People are disappointed with the imposition of President's rule. We are taking this matter to court and we will seek justice from the Supreme Court."

"Congress party had the majority. Why the other party which has less in numbers trying to destabilise our government. The court has to decide now. The matter was sub-judice and therefore we will wait for the court's order," he said.

Rubbishing Congress' allegations, BJP spokesperson, Nalin Kohli had said, "Murder of democracy took place when the Congress government imposed emergency in India. Whatever happened in Arunachal was as per our constitution."
