Chiyaan Vikram Explains Difference Between Hindi And Tamil Film Audiences
The actor spoke on several topics including his film journey and movies close to his heart.

Chiyaan Vikram, who is currently basking in the success of his latest film Thangalaan, recently marked his presence at Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast on YouTube. During the interaction, the actor spoke on several topics including his film journey, movies close to his heart, and his relationship with wife Shailaja, among other things. In one segment, Vikram revealed that certain films worked better in Bollywood than they did in Tamil languages. According to him, the primary reason for the same was due to the different mindsets between the cinema-going audience in both regions. Chiyaan Vikram revealed that 12th Fail and Laapataa Ladies were two of his favourite present-day Hindi films. Praising the simplicity of both the movies, the actor said, “I thought they were amazing." Vikram even lauded Sparsh Shrivastav’s performance in Laapataa Ladies and in the Netflix drama Jamtara. He disclosed that such films could not be made in South cinema. To prove his point, Vikram cited the example of his 2013 action thriller David. The actor claimed that even though he put his all into the project, Tamil viewers did not appreciate the Hindi-Tamil bilingual anthology.

“In the first shot itself, I will slap a woman, my mother will slap me, I will get kicked, hit; my best friend will love a girl, who I look and fall in love with instantly as well and then I think of killing that guy to get the girl. Weird things are so funny in Hindi, (but) in Tamil, people were like, ‘What the hell, how could you do that?’ In Tamil (cinema), you would stand for the guy and give up your life. It’s two very different paradigms. You can’t try both at the same time," explained Chiyaan Vikram. He also mentioned that in such cases, the market for the movie “goes for a dip". “I have done it before, where I started doing smaller films just for characters. Then that starts affecting the other films. It is a very tricky thing," he added.

Chiyaan Vikram was last seen in Thangalaan, the action fantasy film directed by Pa Ranjith. Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan also play key roles in the film. Chiyaan Vikram will next be seen in director Arun Kumar’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2.
