New Delhi: The BJP will intensify its star-studded campaign in Uttar Pradesh and will release its manifesto for the Assembly elections at Lucknow on Monday.
The poll campaign will feature all of the party's national leaders, and several film stars.
However, senior leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee will not take part in the first phase of the party's campaign.
''He will address meetings only in the second phase, details of which were being finalised,'' PTI quoted BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi as saying.
BJP President Rajnath Singh and former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh will address election rallies in almost every Assembly segment, with the former having about 209 meetings in 28 days on his schedule.
Kalyan Singh will address 20 rallies in 30 days.
Senior party leader L K Advani will address 120 rallies in 20 days, while Murli Manohar Joshi will campaign for ten days and Sushma Swaraj for 14 days.
Also adding weight to the party's electioneering will be senior leaders Jaswant Singh, Venkaiah Naidu, Yashwant Sinha, Arun Jaitley, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Kalraj Misra, Vinay Katiyar, Gopinath Munde and Anant kumar.
Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states – Narendra Modi, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Vasundhara Raje and BC Khanduri – will address over 100 rallies and meetings in various parts of the state.
Leaders of BJP's allies like Sharad Yadav of the Janata Dal(U), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Sonelal Patel of the Apna Dal will also address several meetings jointly.
All film star MPs and Members of the party including Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini, Vinod Khanna and Navjot Singh Siddhu will also take part in the poll campaign.
Naqvi said his party aimed at putting to an end the 'Tamancha, Tijori and Tushtikaran Raj' (gun, money and appeasement culture) of the Samajwadi Party in the state.
