Patna: Opposition BJP on Friday created an uproar in Bihar Assembly alleging discrimination by the state government against its MLAs in allotment of development projects.

As the House assembled for the day, Leader of Opposition Nand Kishore Yadav drew attention of the Speaker Uday Narayan Chodhary on adjournement notices given by four BJP MLAs on government discrimination in allotment of development projects in their constituencies and urged the Chair to take it up first.

Soon BJP MLAs, along with eight rebel JD(U) legislators, trooped into the well of the House and started raising anti-government slogans.

At this, the Speaker adjourned the House first till 12:10 PM and later till 2 PM.

Yadav told reporters later that the government was "blatantly discriminating" against BJP MLAs in allotment of development works in their constituencies and giving priority to JD(U) legislators.

He said government records showed that out of 327 bridges sanctioned for current fiscal, only 27 were in the constituencies represented by BJP members.

Similarly, under the Mukhya Mantri Gram Sampark Yojna aimed at connecting a village with a population of 250 and above, out of the works worth Rs 161 crore sanctioned in 2015-16, only a sum of Rs 7.5 crore was in constituencies represented by BJP, he said.

"Discrimination in allotment of development works reflects the DNA of Nitish Kumar government. We demand the state government to issue a white paper on the subject," he said.
