BJP, Congress lock horns over Rajnath's apology to Muslims
External Affairs Minister and Congress leader Salman Khurshid launched a scathing attack on Modi by calling him 'impotent'.

New Delhi: Even as BJP chief Rajnath Singh apologised to Muslims for mistakes, if any, committed by his party in the past, the Congress seems is not impressed as it says that BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should rather apologise to the minority community for the Gujarat riots.

External Affairs Minister and Congress leader Salman Khurshid launched a scathing attack on Modi by calling him 'impotent'. The Union Minister even justified his words by arguing that the Gujarat Chief Minister was not competent as he failed to control the 2002 riots in the state.

Refusing to regret his statement against Modi, he said that he was not questioning the BJP prime ministerial candidate's sexual prowess but his incompetence for failing to stop the post-Godhra riots.

The war of words between the Congress and the BJP started after Rajnath on Tuesday said, "If we have made any mistakes in the past, forgive us. If we are wrong in future, I will bend my head in shame."

However, the BJP leaders are now insisting that Rajnath wasn't apologising for Godhra riots. But the critics are saying it was just an attempt by Rajnath to correct BJP's perception in the eyes of minorities.
