"During riots, only two parties gain, BJP and Pakistan's ISI," said Ahmed.
New Delhi: Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed raked up a controversy on Wednesday by saying that two parties that benefited from riots were Bharatiya Janata Party and Pakistan's Intelligence agency, ISI.
His reactions comes in the backdrop of Delhi Police's claims that the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba was trying to recruit people from riot-hit areas in Uttar Pradesh.
"During riots, only two parties gain, BJP and Pakistan's ISI," said Ahmed.
The Bharatiya Janata Party was quick to respond to Ahmed's allegations. Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "90 per cent of the riots took place during Congress regime."
