The 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Bihar have been very crucial. As electioneering progressed in the Hindi heartland, the tone and tenor of the leaders slowly changed from development towards caste equations.

2014 elections witnessed a twist in Bihar because of the unprecedented split of JDU from the BJP-led NDA after their alliance of 17 years. The NDA, however, got a timely LJP boost before the election began and on the other side, after much hullabaloo the Congress-RJD fought the Lok Sabha battle together.

Out of the total 40 seats in Bihar, the BJP is expected to cross the half-way mark. The saffron party had won 12 seats in 2009 election.

Major candidates in the fray are:

Prakash Jha - JDU - Pashchim Champaran

Rabri Devi - RJD - Saran

Rajiv Pratap Rudy - BJP - Saran

Ram Vilas Paswan- LJP- Hajipur

Misa Bharti - RJD - Pataliputra

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh - RJD - Vaishali

Meira Kumar - Congress - Sasaram
