Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has resigned following the rout of Congress in Delhi Assembly elections.

The BJP has routed Congress in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and is leading in Delhi. But the party seems to be on it way out in Chhattisgarh as the Congress has put up a good show in the state.

While BJP has taken a massive lead in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Congress is ahead in Chhattisgarh. Delhi is seeing the AAP giving a tough fight to the BJP and it is likely to be a hung Assembly in the city state. Congress i way behind in the national capital.

Delhi: At 9 pm Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit is leading in the New Delhi seat where Arvind Kejriwal was contesting against her. BJP continues to lead in Delhi while AAP is a close second, Congress way behind. BJP leads in 14, AAP 10, Congress 5.

Rajasthan: At 9 am, the BJP is leading in 17 seats and Congress in seven.

Chhattisgarh: At 9 am the BJP is leading in 7 seats and the Congress is leading in 5 seats.

Madhya Pradesh: BJP takes a considerable lead in early trends in the state. On 33 seats, BJP is ahead in 23 while Congress leads in 9. Others also lead in 1 seat.

The BJP has taken lead in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. AAP is a close second in Delhi. Congress is trailing in all states.

While BJP and Congress are in a close fight in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. AAP has taken lead in one seat in Narela seat in Delhi.

8 am: Counting has started for Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Assembly elections.

All eyes are on Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Assembly election results as the winner will have the momentum as India gets ready for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections six months down the line.

The results are extremely important for the two big national parties - Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While the former is battling allegations of humongous corruption scandals, price rise, policy paralysis, economic slowdown poor governance and slow decision along with a host of issues, the BJP is keen to project it self as a party that can take the country out of the quagmire.

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had invested a lot of time and energy is the state elections and a good show by the party will boost his candidature further and push the Congress in a more defensive position.

The Congress and BJP are the principal rivals in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh even as Delhi is witnessing a three-cornered contest for the first time with the emergence of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party.
