New Delhi: According to reports, the Delhi High Court is scrutinizing the degree held by Aam Aadmi party (AAP) MLA Surender Singh.
A plea was filed in the Delhi High Court challenging his election. The petitioner is a Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) leader who claims that Singh misrepresented his BA degree from Sikkim University. The BJP leader has asked the court to declare Singh's election as void.
Singh is the second AAP MLA after Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, who is facing similar allegations over his educational qualification.
According to the petitioner, the varsity said it did not have any record of a student named Surender Singh."As per the academic record of the year 2014-15 and all the past academic years, there is no student by the name Surender Singh," the RTI reply of the Sikkim University read.
"Singh has deprived the voters of Delhi Cantt their valuable right of having full and complete information as to his background and qualification," Tanwar said, seeking direction to summon the record of the election affidavit.
Singh has maintained he has all the documents to prove the case in court and also dismissed the petition as "politically motivated".
