Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday responded to the letter sent to him by President Droupdi Murmu on the day of ‘pran-pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22.
“After returning from Ayodhya Dham after witnessing the most unforgettable moments of my life, I am writing this letter to you. I have returned with an Ayodhya in my mind also. An Ayodhya which can never go away from me,” PM Modi wrote to President Murmu.
“I received your letter a day before leaving for Ayodhya. I am very grateful for your good wishes and affection. Every word of your letter expressed your compassionate nature and your immense happiness at organizing the consecration,” the letter by the Prime Minister further read.
PM Modi further stated in his letter that he was in a “different state of mind” when he received President Murmu’s letter, adding that it gave him “immense support and strength in handling these feelings”.
“When I received your letter, I was in a different state of mind. Your letter gave me immense support and strength in handling these feelings of my mind and in coming to terms with them. I visited Ayodhya Dham as a pilgrim. My mind was overwhelmed with many emotions after going to the holy land where such a confluence of faith and history took place,” the prime minister said.
PM Modi further mentioned that witnessing such a historic occasion was both a “privilege and a responsibility” and talked about his discussion with President Murmu about his ’11-day anushthan’.
“You had also discussed my 11-day fasting ritual and the Yama-Niyams related to it. Our country has been witness to countless people who kept many vows for centuries so that Ramlala could once again reside at his birthplace. Being the conductor of the completion of these centuries-long vows was a very emotional moment for me and I consider it my good fortune,” the letter read.
On the eve of the consecration ceremony, President Murmu had penned a letter to PM Modi congratulating him on the grand event. She also lauded the prime minister for performing the supreme 11-day-long rigorous Anushthan before taking part in the ceremony at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple.
“The 11-day Anushthaan that you have undertaken is not only a sacred ritual but also a supreme spiritual act of sacrifice and submission to Prabhu Shri Ram,” President Murmu wrote in her letter.
