A 26-year-old Triathlon participant hailing from Ranchi who took part in an Ironman race in Goa collapsed 500m before the finish line, before passing away a day later. According to the local police, Kamakhya Siddharth who was working as an associate manager at an MNC took part in the Ironman 70.3 race in Goa.
The triathlon event comprises of a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile cycle riding and then a 13.1-mile run. Siddharth took part in the race which was flagged off by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday. Participants from more than 50 countries took part in the event, however, Siddharth collapsed 500m before the finish line. He was subsequently rushed to a private hospital where the athlete passed away of multiple organ failure.
Ironman 70.3 Goa later posted a statement on Facebook, saying that they were in touch with Siddharth’s family, and will continue to offer them support.

“We are saddened to confirm the passing of a race participant during Sunday’s triathlon. At approximately 500 metres from the finish on the run portion of the race, the athlete required medical assistance,” read the statement.
“Emergency medical personnel and an ambulance positioned on the run course for the event provided immediate medical support before transporting the athlete to a nearby hospital, where they sadly passed away today,” the organisers wrote further.
“We appreciate the quick work of onsite safety personnel and first responders to provide the athlete with medical support. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the athlete’s family and friends, whom we will continue to offer our support,” the statement added.
According to a report in Indian Express, a police officer requesting anonymity informed that the athlete’s family has not filed a complaint yet.

The police further informed that Kamakhya was training in Goa for swimming in the event. The athlete had been posting images of his training routines on social media and had completed a half-marathon earlier in 2023 in Ranchi.
Siddharth hailed from Ranchi, completed his schooling before studying engineering and later moved to Gurgaon where he worked for an MNC since 2019.
