IPL 2024 Mini Players' Auction to be Held on December 19 in Dubai - Report
All ten teams have to announce their retained and released players by November 15 after which the auction pool will be finalised.

The players’ auction for the 2024 editions of Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to be held overseas; for the first time in the history of the tournament. The players will go under the hammer on December 19 as the think tanks of all 10 franchises will gather in Dubai.

Deadline to release list of retained players – November 15

According to ESPN Cricinfo, all ten teams have to announce their retained and released players by November 15. Once it’s done, the auction pool will be finalised by early December.

The purse gets heavier

Each franchise will enter the auction with a purse of INR 100 crore to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season – a raise of INR 5 crore to last season’s purse of INR 95 crore. The management of funds will depend upon the value of players they release and considering the amount unspent.

Punjab Kings – INR 12.20 crore (USD 1.47million)

Mumbai Indians – INR 0.05 crore (USD 0.006 million)

Sunrisers Hyderabad – INR 6.55 crore (USD 0.79 million)

Gujarat Titans – INR 4.45 crore (USD 0.54 million)

Delhi Capitals – INR 4.45 crore (USD 0.54 million)

Lucknow Super Giants – INR 3.55 crore (USD 0.43 million)

Rajasthan Royals – USD 3.35 crore (USD 0.40 million)

Royal Challengers Bangalore – INR 1.75 crore (USD 0.21 million)

Kolkata Knight Riders – INR 1.65 crore (USD 0.2 million)

Chennai Super Kings – INR 1.5 crore (USD 0.18 million).

Players in focus

The upcoming auction will see Australian pacer Mitchell Starc returning to the cash-rich tournament after 8 years. Aussie captain Pat Cummins is also likely to put his name in the auction after skipping the last season. The other key players at the auction will be Travis Head, Chris Woakes, Alex Hales, and Gerald Coetzee.

Highlights of previous mini-auction

Last year, English all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history. He was signed by Punjab Kings for a whopping sum of INR 18.5 crore.
