ICC World Cup 2023 Semifinals Race: India Lead Points Table, Kiwis-Proteas and Australia in Top Four

The race for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals is heating up with each passing day as India remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament following their four-wicket win over New Zealand. The Indian team leapfrogged the Kiwis on Sunday with a hard-fought win in Dharamsala that takes the hosts top of the points table. Rohit Sharma’s men became the first team to reach double figures in the points table, with 10 points from five matches and a flawless one hundred percent winning record and a NRR of +1.353.
New Zealand suffered their first defeat in the World Cup so far, but the loss sees the Kiwis remain in second place with four wins and eight points along with a NRR of +1.481.

South Africa are third on the points table with three wins and six points to show along with a massive NRR of +2.212 following their 229-run win over England on Saturday. Australia have two wins from four games, their NRR of -0.193 sees the five-time World Cup champions occupy fourth place in the points table.
Babar Azam’s Pakistan slipped to fifth place after their defeat to Australia, the Green Army also have four points from as many games but have an inferior NRR of -0.456.
As many as five teams are level on two points each, with the battle for semifinals set to go down to the wire. Bangladesh have the best NRR of -0.784 among all and thus they are in sixth place while the Netherlands are seventh with a -0.790.

Sri Lanka are eighth with a NRR of -1.048 whereas the defending champions England find themselves in ninth place after a solitary win and their NRR has slumped to -1.248. Afghanistan are rock bottom with a NRR of -1.250 but they will have a chance to improve that when Hashmatullah Shahidi’s men will face Pakistan at the Chepauk Stadium on Monday, October 23.
