ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Dilshan Madushanka Leads Golden Ball Race Despite Sri Lanka's Loss to Bangladesh
Madushanka, who scalped three wickets against the Bangla Tigers on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, tops the wicket-takers list with 21 dismissals in the campaign.

Bangladesh picked up a win over Sri Lanka on Monday in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in a game that was marred by Angelo Mathews’ ‘Timed out’ dismissal.

The Bangla Tigers bundled out Sri Lanka for 279 runs in 49.3 overs before achieving the target with 53 deliveries and 3 wickets to spare.

The win took Bangladesh to the seventh spot in the table, ahead of Sri Lanka on net run rate as both teams have four points each in eight outings so far in the tournament.

Golden Bat:

South African opener Quinton de Kock leads the race for the golden bat with 550 runs to his name with four tons in the ICC showpiece event.

Indian star batsman Virat Kohli, who brought up his 49th ODI century to go on par with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar against South Africa with an unbeaten 101 runs, stands second with 543 runs under his belt.

Kiwi all-rounder Rachin Ravindra stands third in the run-getters rankings with 523 runs in the campaign. The New Zealand south-paw is followed by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has tallied 442 in eight games in the blur ribbon event on home soil.

Australia opener David Warner, who has 428 runs comes in fifth on the list of run-getters at the World Cup.

Golden Ball:

Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka, who scalped three wickets against the Bangla Tigers on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, tops the wicket-takers list with 21 dismissals in the campaign.

Australia spinner Adam Zampa follows the Lankan seamer with 19 scalps under his belt in the 50-over event.

South African speedster Marco Jansen stands third on the list with 17 wickets in the ongoing campaign, followed by fourth-placed Mohammed Shami, who has been in top form for the hosts troubling opposition batsmen at will. The Indian pacer has scalped 16 wickets in the tournament and stands above Pakistani counterpart Shaheen Shah Afridi, who also has 16 dismissals in the ICC showpiece.
