Naveen-ul-Haq received the loudest cheer from fans in Delhi after he dismissed England captain Jos Buttler, days after Virat Kohli urged fans not to taunt Naveen

Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq buried the hatchet as the duo faced off for the first time at the ICC World Cup 2023 since their heated argument at the IPL earlier this year. Kohli and Naveen hugged each other as India faced Afghanistan in Delhi.

The pre-match talk ahead of the fixture was dominated by the coming together of Kohli and Naveen however once both of them came face to face, the two players decided to come clean and let bygones be bygones.

Naveen had been trolled by Indian fans on multiple occasions, he was also hurled with ‘Kohli Kohli’ chants wherever he went. Kohli while playing in Delhi urged the crowd not to taunt the pacer and the impact of the former Indian captain was seen on Sunday, October 15.

Afghanistan faced England and during the second innings, Naveen castled Jos Buttler, after which the crowd let out a huge cheer to support the 24-year-old.

England were in a spot of bother when Naveen delivered a beautiful delivery which turned inside and went through the massive gap between the bat and the pad, rattling the stumps.

Naveen was then seen celebrating the wicket in style, and the dismissal gave Afghanistan a real chance of upsetting the defending champions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The crowd also celebrated the dismissal, letting out a huge roar.

Afghanistan gave England a real scare as the defending champions were reduced to 91/4 when Buttler walked back to the dugout after scoring 9 runs.

Mujeeb ur Rahman picked up three wickets and ensured that the final overs of the game became a proper cliffhanger with both teams fighting for the win.

Afghanistan have never beaten England in the ICC ODI World Cup, the two sides had squared off only twice, both times in the World Cup, and England had won both times were they had a task at hand while chasing a total of 285 runs.
