Durga Puja 2023: The Delhi police have reportedly set up drinking water facilities at various locations considering the heavy footfall during the weekend

As Durga Puja festivities begin, commuters in Delhi-NCR are most likely to face heavy traffic movement as a large number of visitors will be hopping to the puja pandal in several parts of the national capital, especially in the CR Park area during the weekend. The Delhi traffic police have made some arrangements to manage the traffic, especially on roads close to CR Park, which is the biggest crowd puller every year as the area witnesses more than six pandals.

According to media reports, the internal roads leading to CR park pandals have been barricaded and only authorised vehicles will be allowed entry to commute on these roads. Apart from that, restrictions will be in place in outer roads across South Delhi as well.

Heavy Barricading, Parking Arrangements Around CR Park

According to TOI, roads from Kabootar Chowk to K1 have been barricaded to prevent entry of unauthorised vehicles and avoid crowding. Similarly, the route leading to A9 Road and the Gurudwara Road around that was also barricaded.

As for parking, arrangements have been made at four colleges and schools for people visiting the Durga Puja pandal to park their vehicles.

Traffic police have announced that vehicles with official stickers and approved passes will not face restrictions, while those without passes will need to park in designated areas. However, roadside parking will not be allowed.

Cranes have been positioned to prevent traffic congestion and ensure that cars are not parked in unauthorised locations.

Ambulance on Standby, Drinking Water and Other Arrangements

The Delhi police have reportedly set up drinking water facilities at various locations considering the heavy footfall during the weekend.

The electricity department has also been put on standby in case of any untoward situation in or around the pandal. Additionally, three ambulances have also been put on standby, apart from the deployment of a fire brigade.

Traffic Diversions for Dussehra

The Delhi Traffic Police also issued a traffic advisory urging commuters to avoid certain routes during the Durga Puja and Dussehra festivities as large gatherings are expected in those areas.

The traffic authorities also said that the traffic will remain affected on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg towards Savitri Flyover and Inder Mohan Bhardwaj Marg towards GK-2/CR Park till 11:30 pm on Saturday.

Diversions have been announced around Netaji Subhas Marg from Daryaganj while going towards Nishad Raj Marg in case of heavy vehicular movement.

Vehicles coming from Red Fort from Chatta Rail will also be diverted to Salimgarh bypass and Mahatma Gandhi Marg if the traffic snarls on NS Marg.
