David Warner Equals Sachin Tendulkar's Record With 6th Hundred in ICC Cricket World Cup
David Warner overtook Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara on the list of most hundreds in World Cups and is behind only Rohit Sharma.

David Warner smashed his sixth ODI World Cup century to pull level with legend Sachin Tendulkar during Australia’s ICC Cricket World Cup clash against the Netherlands on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Warner, who clubbed 163 last time out against Pakistan, reached his second successive ton off 91 balls with 11 fours and three sixes.

India skipper Rohit Sharma recently surpassed compatriot Tendulkar’s record of World Cup tons to lead the race with seven hundreds. Warner surpassed the likes of Ricky Ponting (5) and Kumar Sangakkara (5) on the list of most hundreds in World Cups.

Warner was dismissed for 104 but put Australia on course for a huge total against the Netherlands.

Warner also became the fourth Australian to score consecutive hundreds in World Cups, after Mark Waugh (1996), Ricky Ponting (2003-07) and Matthew Hayden (2007).

Warner’s hundred was his 22nd in ODIs and surpassed AB de Villiers (186) and Rohit (188) in terms of innings taken to reach the landmark, with the Australian doing so in 153 innings. Only Hashim Amla (126 ) and Virat Kohli (143) managed the feat faster.

Five-time winners Australia lost Mitchell Marsh, for nine, in the fourth over after they elected to bat first.

The left-handed Warner and Steve Smith hit back in a stand of 132 against a Dutch side who had stunned South Africa earlier in the tournament.

Smith scored his first fifty of this edition before he fell for 71 off-spinner Aryan Dutt, but Warner stood firm in another stubborn partnership of 84 with Marnus Labuschagne.

Labuschagne raised his fifty before he fell for 62 off Bas de Leede.

Gelnn Maxwell, smashed 106 off 44 balls, to blow away the Dutch attack to score his century off just 40 balls, bettering the record of South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who had smashed 106 off 49 balls against Sri Lanka at the same ground in New Delhi on October 7.

Maxwell hit nine fours and eight sixes during his whirlwind knock as Australia posted a dauting total of Australia to 399/8 from their quota of 50 overs.
