CAT 2023: Vishnu said he identified his strengths in the DILR and QA section of the test, and meticulously worked to improve his Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension skills

Alamuri Kumar Sai Vishnu, based out of Visakhapatnam, aced the MBA entrance exam — CAT 2023 with a remarkable 100 percentile score. One of 14 candidates who received a perfect score on the management admissions test, the 20-year-old takes us through his academic journey. Vishnu’s passion for understanding large-scale business operations fueled his decision to pursue management studies. “I was passionate about how businesses work on a large scale and in my final year thought why not pursue a master’s in this field,” he told News18.com.

He completed his schooling at Little Angels Vizag following which he pursued his BSc degree in statistics from GITAM Vizag, graduating just this year. His journey toward CAT began in his final year of undergraduate studies. He took the entrance exam in 2022 and scored 95.6 percentile on his first attempt. Building on this foundation, Vishnu achieved a perfect score this year, attributing his success to focused preparation.

He emphasised that his CAT 2023 preparation strategy centred around the VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) section. “I wanted to focus more on VARC this year. My preparation was mostly around mocks. I used to take mock tests and then analyse them,” said Vishnu, who also took the VARC 1000 course from Career Launcher.

Vishnu identified his strengths in the DILR and QA section of the test and meticulously worked to improve his VARC skills. Reflecting on the CAT 2023 paper, he confidently added, “I made all three sections my strengths.”

Looking ahead, Vishnu aspires to join a top B-school in the country, emphasising his desire to evolve not only academically but also as an individual. His vision extends beyond the confines of the classroom, highlighting his holistic approach to personal and professional development.

To succeed in CAT, he encourages prospective candidates to focus on their ultimate goal and be persistent while also having the capacity to weed out unneeded distractions.

Vishnu’s father works as a sales manager, while his mother is a homemaker. Notably, his sister is currently pursuing an MBA from IIM Sirmaur.
