Former Australia international Darren Lehmann is hoping that the Pat Cummins’ led team will bring home a record-extending sixth World Cup after beating India in the title clash this Sunday.
The Aussies overcame the South Africans in the second semi-final of the World Cup 2023 to book their place in the final.
Following their win, Australian cricketer-turned-coach Lehmann said on X (formerly Twitter) that the two best teams had made it to the ultimate game of the premier tournament.
In his post, he wished his nation success while saying, “Two best teams in the final, good luck to all @ICC. Go Aussies WC # 6 for the males. Bring it home, please. Top 4 to make big runs for Aussies”.

Most of the fans were amazed at the cricketer’s optimism towards the success of his team.
One of them said, “Darren, if Australia stand any chance in the finals then it has to be the Bowlers. And top 4 have to attack the Indian pace trio coz Jadeja and Kuldeep will trouble them big time. Travis Head will be the key.”

One fan reminded everyone that India has now come a long way since 2003. He wrote, “It is not the same Indian side like 2003 we are going to win it one-sided and also Australia are not strong like 2015 they shiver playing to spin”.

Another fan backed his statement by saying, “#6 not happening this time. It belongs to INDIA.”

Australia had a slow start in India, losing their opener against the hosts before conceding a second successive defeat against South Africa.
However, the Aussies did not disappoint their fans as they pulled off a solid comeback by winning seven straight group-stage games.
This ensured their place in the semi-finals where they were able to beat South Africa to extend their winning run.
All that stands in front of them now is a powerful Indian squad who look hungrier than ever for their third crown. It will be interesting to see if Australia can pull off the impossible by outshining the in-form hosts on their way to a sixth World Cup title.
Lehmann was a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s and early 2000s, especially at the domestic level. The batter amassed more than 25,000 runs in First-Class cricket and more than 13,000 runs in List A. He played 117 ODI games and 27 Tests for Australia while scoring 4876 runs.
In his post, the cricketer made it abundantly clear that he expects the current Australian top batting order to do the same, ‘score big runs’.
