Another Shraddha-like Case in Delhi: Wife, Son Kill Man, Chop Body, Store in Fridge & Discard Over Days in Pandav Nagar

In another Shraddha Walkar-like case, a man’s body was chopped and stored in fridge after being killed by his wife and son in Delhi’s Pandav Nagar. The parts were then disposed off over days in and around Pandav Nagar and East Delhi.

The deceased has been identified as Anjan Das. News18 has learnt that the accused, his wife Poonam and son Deepak, murdered Das over his illicit affair by giving him drugs and then stored his body in the fridge of their Trilokpuri house. The murder took place at night on May 30.

The case came to fore when Delhi Police found body parts strewn across Pandav Nagar area. According to cops, the pieces of Das’s body were thrown daily in different areas of Pandav Nagar and East Delhi.

Police confirmed that the duo used to cut the body into pieces and keep it stored in the fridge and eventually throw them in Pandav Nagar area.

The accused, Poonam, said: “Anjan Das used to have ill intentions towards my children and that’s why I did it. My son killed him with a knife, I didn’t do it.”

A CCTV footage, which was confirmed by the cops, showed Deepak walking with a bag in his hand late at night. Cops said it could be one of the times, when the son had left the house to discard the pieces. His mother, Poonam, can also be seen following him.

The accused’s landlord told cops that the couple used to fight often and he had times and over asked them to keep it down. The accused, however, told that her husband was a drunkard. The two have been living in that house for around six years.

Cops said no one saw the deceased in last seven-eight months. Poonam had told others that Anjan had gone to his native village.

According to police, after the recovery of Das’ body parts, a case was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence and giving false information) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Pandav Nagar police station.

What Cops Said

During a press conference, Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner Police (Crime), Delhi Police, said: “On June 5, some body parts were recovered in Ramlila Maidan, East district. Then for next 3 days two legs, two thighs, a skull and a forearm were recovered. It was then that a case was filed.”

Delhi Police’s Special CP (Crime), Ravinder Yadav, said: “Situation in Anjan’s family worsened after Deepak got married and deceased use to have ill intentions towards his wife and one of Deepak’s sisters, who used to live with them. Anjan also took all their earnings but was not willing to working himself.”

Yadav added that Poonam and Deepak dumped the body pieces in isolated areas like behind Ramlila Maidan, and New Ashok Nagar drain. The duo had also buried the skull.

How Aaftab Poonawala Killed Shraddha

Twenty-eight-year-old Aaftab Poonawala allegedly strangled his live-in partner Walkar and sawed her body into 35 pieces which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in South Delhi’s Mehrauli before dumping them across the city over several days past midnight. The murder occurred in May.

The grim details of the case shocked the entire nation and demands for strictest punishment for accused Aaftab Poonawala have only grown louder since then.

Walkar, a resident of Vasai in Palghar district, had two years ago complained to the police that Aaftab had tried to kill her and expressed apprehension he would cut her into pieces and throw her away. A letter of her complaint to the cops surfaced a few days agoo.

The police official had also said that based on Walkar’s written complaint dated November 23, 2020, personnel of Tulinj police station in Palghar district visited the place, where Walkar and Aaftab resided, twice and recorded her statement.

“Walkar then told the police that she had lodged the complaint in a fit of rage and the issues between her and Aaftab were resolved. She told the police that she was withdrawing her complaint, after which the case was closed,” he said.

Home Minister Amit Shah last week said that Delhi Police and prosecution will ensure “strict punishment” to the accused in minimal possible time in the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

“I have my eyes on the entire case. I just want to tell the people of the country that whosoever has done this, through law and through courts, Delhi Police and prosecution will ensure strict punishment in the minimum time,” he said at an event by Times Now.

Shah said there is no lack of coordination between Delhi and Mumbai police.
