Impressed by Kim Yoo Jung’s personality, Sung Dong Il, decided that his Circle of Atonement co-star should marry his son, Sung Joon.

Veteran South Korean actor Sung Dong Il is gearing up to impress audiences with his upcoming film, Hijacking, scheduled to release in June. However, the talented actor has recently made headlines for a resurfaced interview from 2015 where he expressed his desire to have actress Kim Yoo Jung as his daughter-in-law. The revelation happened during a promotional interview for their film Circle of Atonement on MBC’s Section TV Entertainment News, where he recounted their initial meeting on the sets of New Heart in 2007. Impressed by her personality, Sung Dong Il, in a surprising confession, decided that Kim Yoo Jung should marry his son, Sung Joon.

As per Koreaboo, Dong Il said, “Kim Yoo Jung’s eyes are very pretty. Even now, I have a greed for Kim Yoo Jung. I have been preparing my heart for her and my Sung Joon to end up together.” He humorously mentioned telling the actress that he would personally ensure his son is raised well and requested her to wait for him to grow up. The actor said, “I told Kim Yoo Jung that I would raise Sung Joon well and to wait for him. I told her that I can’t lose her to anyone else.”

It’s important to note that there’s a significant age gap between Kim Yoo Jung, who is currently 24 and Sung Joon, who is 17. Sung Dong Il’s son was admitted to Science High School in Incheon, South Korea last year. Interestingly, the actor has previously appeared with his son, Sung Joon and daughter, Sung Bin, on the MBC show Dad, Where Are We Going?

In a previous interview, Sung Dong Il shared that he worked on the film Circle of Atonement without taking any salary. He then spoke about making a promise and decided to fulfil it by doing the role in the film for free. He highlighted the importance of keeping promises and valued maintaining good relationships with friends.

Sung Dong Il is currently preparing for the release of Hijacking, where he will be starring alongside Ha Jung-woo, Yeo Jin-goo and Chae Soo-bin. The film revolves around Ha Jung-woo’s character, Tae-in, who is shown as an expert pilot dealing with the challenging situation of a hijacked aircraft. Tae-in, a former Air Force fighter pilot, has the responsibility of finding solutions to avoid dangerous circumstances. Sung Dong Il will play the role of an airline captain Gyu Sik, while Chae Soo Bin is a flight attendant.
