Former India batter Shikhar Dhawan appears to be enjoying his time off the field. The legendary opener who entertained us with his power-packed batting for over a decade recently engaged in a viral social media trend. Dhawan shared a video on Instagram where he was seen imitating the hilarious antics of the internet-famous “Pankhe Wale Baba.” The trend started when a man was captured stopping a rotating fan with his hands while sitting on the shoulders of others. Dhawan recreated the scene with some of his friends and the video was an instant hit.
The 38-year-old was seated on a plastic chair when three people lifted him by their hands. As soon as the ceiling came within his reach, Dhawan spread his fingers just like the “Fan Wale Baba” to stop a moving fan. He even gave blessings to the men portraying the character of his disciples.

To make the video more engaging, Dhawan added a devotional Kannada track in the background. He captioned the Instagram post, “Pankhe Wale Baba Ki Jai Ho.” The video with more than 2.5 million views created much buzz among Indian cricket fans, who highlighted Dhawan’s fun-loving personality in the comment section.
A fan sarcastically asked, “Shikhar bhai, what is this?” Another user wondered if Dhawan switched his career to become a “guru ji.” Another person suggested a new nickname for the former Indian cricketer– “Gabbar Baba”.
Shikhar Dhawan, who made his debut for India in 2010, shared the news of his international retirement via an emotional video message in August. “As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for your love and support! Jai Hind! I am at a point when I look back and only see good memories and a new world when I look ahead,” he said.
