The much-awaited trailer for the upcoming Amazon Prime docu-series Rainbow Rishta is out. The series attempts to showcase six inspiring and touching queer love stories through the eyes of several members of the community. The series aims to feature real-life experiences from various parts of the country and stars Trinetra Haldar, Aishwarya Ayushmaan, Daniella Mendonca, Aneez Saikia, Sanam Choudhary, Soham Sengupta, Suresh Ramdas, and Sadam Hanjabam.

The trailer was shared on the official handle of Amazon Prime Video with the caption, “to loving out loud because at the end of the day, it’s all that matters!” The vibrant trailer depicts a group of protagonists discussing how they are perceived and how they feel within themselves, offering a glimpse into LGBTQ love stories from around the country. They discuss what they are looking for in their partners, with the core idea being the need for companionship. The protagonist also debates their right to love like anyone else in the country. The clip also shows the protagonists going on dates, having a romantic time with their partners, or dressing up as brides. The tagline encompasses the mood of the series, “Love Out Loud.”

Rainbow Rishta, touted as an unscripted docu-series, is slated to premiere on Prime Video on November 7. Jaydeep Sarkar directed the six-part series, which is produced by Vice Studios, marking its second project with Prime Video following Cinema Marte Dum Tak. “I feel fortunate to be able to capture the real and unfiltered stories of these remarkable individuals who are living their lives with pride, and challenge societal norms with utmost courage and patience,” said director Jaydeep Sarkar in a press release by Amazon India. The director expressed his gratitude to the streaming platform and production house for releasing this out-of-the box series. He added, “I hope with Rainbow Rishta, viewers will be able to understand a little better that queer lives are not so different from that of straight folks.”

There is no doubt that Rainbow Rishta is an ambitious project, but Samira Kanwar from VICE Studios says that the docu-series is not only about love, “but also empathy and celebration.” Among other cast members, Trinetra Haldar recently made her acting debut with Prime Video’s Made In Heaven Season 2 where she played the role of Meher.
